There are three classical Chinese novels that enjoy immense popularity in present-day Japan, having been adapted or parodied into numerous novels, comic books, animation, drama series, and video games. In Mandarin, they are ”Shuihu Zhuan” (水滸傳); “Xiyou Ji” (西遊記); and “Sanguo Yanyi” (三國演義). So I wasn’t at all surprised to learn that this film starring Andy Lau and Maggie Q has been stirring a buzz of excitement in Japan (as well as China, etc.) and I too will definitely be paying a visit to the cinema, even though I hardly ever go nowadays.

La Feile Padraig
March 17, 2007I might go watch the St. Paddy’s parade tomorrow, if I feel like wading through the tourists & locals. Last year when I was in Japan, I went with a friend of mine to the parade at Omotesando. That one wasn’t bad but I’m sure the one in London captures the spirit of St. Paddy’s more betta.
Below is my favourite Irish toast. Gotta love them Irish, lol.
When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let’s all get drunk, and go to heaven!
